Porter Ranch Ca Real Estate
Porter Ranch is a highly affluent neighborhood in the San Fernando Valley area. Bill Rose, Realtor is a real estate expert in this area. He represents many searching for a residence in this prime community.
Its demographics are most similar to other Southern California communities that include, Beverly Hills, Hidden Hills and Rolling Hills. This area is moderately diverse reporting a residency of almost 25,000 in the year 2000 and as of 2008 U.S. Census, holds a population of just under 31,000.
The community is relatively small and self-contained; it occupies just less than 5.60 square miles averaging less than 4500 in residency per square mile. Porter Ranch is a most thinly dense area in the Los Angeles County.
Porter Ranch sits in the midst of Chatsworth, Northridge and Granada Hills, California areas. Chatsworth is to the south and the west sides, Northridge is purely to the south and Granada Hills sits to the north and the east sides. Directly north is the Santa Susana Mountains and they divide the Santa Clarita and San Fernando valleys.
Porter Ranch is primarily comprised of affluent single-family houses, largely attributed to the builder Nathan Shapell. Shapell, a survivor of World War II and an aid to Holocaust survivors, is attributed as the main developer and planner of communities for this heavily, gated city. He was the CEO and Chairman of Shapell Industries. He and his brother, David, and his brother-in-law, Max Webb are attributed as the master planners.
Nathan and his planning entourage was motivated to build homes for survivors of the war who were displaced and also assisted with their formal requests to the military counsels who reviewed their immigration consideration into America. Known for his grand accomplishment as a major homebuilder as well as an activist and philanthropist for not only California and the United States but also Israel.
The majority of Porter Ranch residents drive to work daily spanning out to the communities of Simi Valley, Chatsworth, and Woodland Hills and as far as Downtown Los Angeles. Porter Ranch residents are able to commute via Metrolink at access points in the cities of Chatsworth and Northridge. Metrolink, the city subway now runs all the way to Downtown Los Angeles and other parts of Ventura County.
The area’s history offers some mystery as well. During the later half of the 1960s and the beginning of the 1970s, two statues of a horse and a rider stood at the city’s entrance.
The first was placed at the northwest corner of the Devonshire and Tampa intersection; a second secured on the northeast corner of Tunney and Devonshire streets. Due to more extensively planned development in the Porter Ranch area, these statues were displaced. Rumors account, say these fine statues were laid to rest in city disposal bends. However, these accounts are unverified to this day, and their final resting place remains a question.
Construction didn’t build out this community in a major way, until sometime in the 1970s. Famously filmed in Porter Ranch was E.T., Steve Spielberg’s top billing filmabout the life of a fallen, adventurous, yet sweet little alien who befriends a young, grammar school boy in his home. Camera shots from this well known film include a hillside ride of Palisades Park, Brasilia Drive, Killimore Avenue and Grande Circle. This area also aligns with Reseda Boulevard on the north and is most notably known by community residents as “E.T. Park.”
